ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as relief and support to Distribution Lead during vacations, illness and/or as required, including processing of orders through our main distributor.
  • Assist with delivery of equipment and supplies. Organize and maintain warehouse supplies.
  • Assist with training and mentoring of new employees in Distribution.
  • Coordinate items for shipment by commercial carrier by preparing a bill of lading and/or other documents as required.
  • Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtain authorized signatures for accepted items.
  • Dispense and deliver products and equipment requested by verbal, written and telephone requisition. This may include the transportation of trays with medication; and/or sharps. Products will be delivered to the floor and put away under the supervision of a charge nurse/nurse.
  • Flexibility required in work schedule, hours and shifts Inspect shipments for damages or defects. Record discrepancies or damages in shipment and notify Manager and/or Purchasing personnel.
  • Maintain departmental records, reports and files as required.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
  • Maintains professional work habits by organizing workload and setting priorities; completing assignments in a timely manner; utilizing resources appropriately; complying with department program standards; and adapting well to change.
  • Notify Facilities when equipment needs to be assembled or checked by Bio-Med
  • Order supplies once a week that are not handled through primary distributor.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Promotes a positive and safe work environment by maintaining good relations with management personnel, peers, and hospital staff; by attending department meetings; by supporting the hospital and its goals, policies, and management decisions; by adhering to the hospital dress code; by maintaining an awareness of hospital infection control, body mechanics and safety policies; by recertification in safety on an annual basis; and by maintaining confidentiality regarding work related matters, identifying and reporting barriers to departmental effectiveness, recommending  constructive problem solving methods, managing time, demonstrating flexibility in work assignments, and active participation as a team member.
  • Receive incoming materials, supplies and equipment. Compare information on packing slip with the purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment.
  • Record and tag all incoming capital assets with Hospital asset number, and forward documents to Purchasing.
  • Refer all problems, unusual requests or incidents to the Distribution Lead and/or Manager at time of occurrence.
  • Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and inter-departmental quality control, improvement and quality planning activities. Through continuing education, maintains up-to-date knowledge in the area of Distribution and Materials Management

Work Experience

Minimum (Required)

  • Ability to learn, educate, direct, plan, coordinate and implement new policies, procedures and programs.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Diplomatic, tactful and customer service driven.
  • Minimum (1) year of receiving/shipping, materials/inventory control, and distribution experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
  • Requires frequent heavy lifting, moving of supplies and equipment.
  • Strong ability to function as a team player.
  • Working knowledge of computerized Materials Management Computer system(s)

Licenses and Certifications

Minimum (Required)

Valid CA Driver's License required when driving is a required function

Pay Transparency

The hourly rate range for this position is $22.30- $30.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, State, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Materials Distribution Lead and/or Manager, this position is responsible for receiving, inspecting and delivering incoming materials, supplies and equipment to all departments within the Hospital. This position requires knowledge of the hospital's current receiving, shipping and capital asset policies and procedures.
