The Legal Intern will support the organization's legal and compliance efforts, focusing on privacy, technology, and AI governance. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about the intersection of law and emerging technologies, who possess strong research, analytical, and communication skills and enjoy working collaboratively across diverse teams.

 

Key Competencies & Responsibilities

  • Research & Analytical Skills:
    Conduct legal research on privacy, regulatory compliance, and AI governance topics; analyze laws, regulations, and trends related to technology and data
  • Drafting & Communication:
    Prepare concise summaries, update trackers, and draft memos or presentations tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Technical Acumen:
    Demonstrate the ability to understand and interpret technical concepts at a high level and facilitate communication between legal, business, and technical teams
  • Attention to Detail & Organization:
    Ensure accuracy and completeness of research, documentation, and reporting; maintain organized records and trackers for ongoing compliance matters
  • Collaboration & Adaptability:
    Work effectively with internal stakeholders including engineers, product managers, and compliance officers; adapt communication style to suit audience needs
  • Interest in Emerging Topics:
    Maintain curiosity and engagement with evolving issues in privacy, technology, regulatory compliance, and AI governance
  • Initiative:
    Proactively identify areas for process improvement or risk mitigation within legal and compliance functions

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program (or equivalent) with a business-focused degree (e.g., economics, finance, accounting, business analytics, human resources, etc.)
  • Highly motivated and adaptable, with a curiosity to learn real-world business and financial concepts
  • Self-driven, resourceful, independent, and willing to take initiative 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative style to working 1:1 or as a team
  • Basic project management and research capability 
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and high technical learning agility
  • Can maintain confidentiality and discretion 
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in Michigan – sponsorship and relocation / housing are not offered with these positions

Duration: 11 weeks, 40 hours per week

Start Date: June 1st, 2026

End Date: August 14th, 2026

Hybrid – 2-3 days in the Troy HQ Office

 

Base pay range for this position is $21.00 per hour.  Final hourly compensation will be based on experience and may vary by geographic location.
