Kelly® Engineering is supporting a direct-hire Advanced Manufacturing Engineer opportunity with a long-standing, privately held U.S. manufacturer that designs and produces high-technology automotive service equipment in Bridgeton, MO

Overview
The organization develops equipment used globally in vehicle maintenance, repair, inspection, and alignment, ensuring cars and trucks are safe, accurate, and roadworthy. With in-house engineering, product development, and manufacturing, the company maintains tight control over quality, innovation, and production scalability.

This role is embedded within the New Product Development (NPD) Lab and serves as the senior individual contributor on the manufacturing engineering team. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer acts as the voice of manufacturing during new product development, owning advanced fixturing, process technologies, and capital projects. The role focuses heavily on metalworking and sheet metal manufacturing and serves as a technical mentor to junior engineers while supporting multiple manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the manufacturing lead within the NPD Lab, providing DFMA input and process guidance for new automotive service equipment products
  • Design advanced powered and manual fixturing to support welding, machining, assembly, and powder coating operations
  • Lead capital equipment projects from concept, specification, and vendor coordination through installation and production release
  • Oversee tooling and equipment builds, qualifications, and implementation
  • Research, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability
  • Develop manufacturing process flows, line layouts, capacity models, and labor analysis for new product launches
  • Act as a technical mentor and escalation resource for less-experienced manufacturing engineers
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical manufacturing support during product launches and ramp-ups
  • Occasional travel (~5%), typically once per quarter, to support manufacturing sites

Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of directly relevant manufacturing engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with metalworking and sheet metal processes 
  • Advanced manufacturing experience supporting welding, machining, assembly, and finishing processes
  • Demonstrated experience supporting New Product Development / New Product Introduction (NPD/NPI)
  • Proven ownership of capital equipment and complex manufacturing projects
  • Solid DFMA analysis experience
  • Experience with manufacturing line layout, optimization, and process improvement
  • 3D CAD proficiency (Creo strongly preferred)
