Advanced Manufacturing Group Leader
Location: Summerville, SC
Salary: $105,000 – $110,000 per year based on experience 
Shift: 1st Shift 
Travel: Up to 10% (domestic and international)
Full Benefits Package: Position Summary:

We are seeking a driven Manufacturing Group Leader to lead a team of engineers responsible for manufacturing processes across sub-assemblies and finished products. This position focuses on optimizing key performance indicators (KPIs) in safety, cost, quality, and delivery, while implementing continuous improvement initiatives and addressing production issues through technical leadership and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians.

  • Analyze production, maintenance, and quality reports to identify and resolve root causes.

  • Develop process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and work standards.

  • Implement and sustain lean practices (5S, Kanban, poka-yoke, visual management, 1-piece flow).

  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (A3, 5Y, 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa, PDCA, Shainin).

  • Set and monitor team objectives and KPIs; contribute to plant business planning.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and VDA standards.

  • Collaborate across departments to support manufacturing initiatives.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred (Associate Degree in Engineering with relevant experience may be considered)

  • 5–7 years of experience in an automated/semi-automated manufacturing environment

  • Proven leadership in engineering and process improvement

Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes

  • Knowledge of materials, electro-mechanical systems, and blueprint/schematic interpretation

  • Proficiency with SAP R/3 and Microsoft Office (including advanced Excel)

  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Experience with friction welding, balancing, and painting processes

  • Familiarity with automotive driveline components

  • German language skills a plus (reading, writing, speaking)

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent walking/bending/lifting in a large-scale manufacturing environment

  • Regular computer and workstation use

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and over 30 lbs occasionally

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment

  • Must be willing and able to work all shifts and flexible hours as needed
