We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper in the Warwick, RI area with strong company tenure. This 100% onsite role is responsible for maintaining the company's general ledger, processing payments, reconciling bank accounts, and entering daily/monthly accounting entries. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles and a commitment to accuracy and integrity.

Job Title: Bookkeeper (100% Onsite)
Salary $50-60k depending on experience
Hours: Monday - Friday 8-4:30 37.5 work week, 45 min lunch – set schedule
Duration: Either contract to hire or direct hire - permanent
Location: Warwick, RI
Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite

  Key Responsibilities

  • Verify and post details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in the general ledger using receipts, invoices, and computer printouts.
  • Process checks for general expenses, loss & loss adjustment payments, underwriting refunds, and monthly commissions.
  • Reconcile daily cash activity to the general ledger and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Scan and record daily cash deposits for bank transmission.
  • Create and enter various daily/monthly general ledger entries.
  • Update agent ACH forms and manage monthly direct bill commission payments through Citizens Bank online portal.
  • Execute daily imports/exports for positive pay through Citizens Bank.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash box.
  • Provide support to other departments with ad hoc check/payable research.
  • Assist with clerical tasks: filing, indexing, mailing checks/documents.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience
Skills & Knowledge:
  • AS400, QuickBooks, or similar ERP System
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong understanding of routine clerical methods and office practices related to accounting
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping procedures and accounting techniques
  • Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
