Calibration Technician
Location: Durham, NC
Shift: 1st Shift, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Pay: $37 - $40 per hour (Based on Experience)
6+month Contract
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Facilities, the Calibration Technician will apply their expertise in precision measurement science (Metrology), mathematics, physics, and electronics to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair instrumentation/controls in both GMP-regulated and non-GMP environments. This role requires performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks for instrumentation systems, controls, and analytical laboratory instruments, while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
Job Responsibilities:-
Perform routine calibrations of instrumentation systems.

Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and configure instrumentation and control systems.

Identify and correct measurement errors and replace faulty instrumentation as needed.

Maintain configuration management to ensure compliance with the system.

Develop and/or revise calibration procedures and job plans to improve efficiency.

Provide technical support and training to peers to enhance their knowledge.

Support the design, installation, and upgrades of instrumentation and control systems.

Maintain and inspect tools, instruments, and equipment, ensuring readiness for calibration.

Participate in business initiatives and assist in labor/material estimates for work orders.

Assist in managing work orders, scheduling, and prioritizing requests using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Ensure compliance with GMP and company safety standards while performing all tasks.

Perform inspections of instruments and equipment prior to and upon return from vendor certifications.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrument Technician in a cGMP environment.

Broad experience with a variety of calibration and process control equipment (Conductivity, DC and Low Frequency Electromagnetic, Flow, Level, pH, Pressure, Temperature, Time, Speed, and Weight).

Strong knowledge of hand and power tools and NIST traceable test equipment.

Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and perform necessary repairs/installations based on technical documentation.

Experience with Pneumatics and Hazardous Energy Control.

Graduate of an Electronics & Instrumentation course (minimum 2 years) or equivalent military training.

Certification in Instrumentation (ISA-CCST) or equivalent preferred.

Experience with a validated CMMS, such as Blue Mountain RAM.

Trained in Electrical Safety NFPA-70E (144 hours of formal electrical safety instruction).

Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment.

Exposure to dirt, dust, heat, cold, and loud operating equipment.

Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, glasses, fall protection, etc.).
- May be required to use material lifting equipment and man lifts.
