Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers. We are seeking Certified Sterile Processing Technicians to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at the Northern Colorado VA Outpatient Clinic in Loveland, CO. Additional technicians needed to support the Cheyenne VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY. Positions are full-time (40 hours/week), long-term contract opportunities.
TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:
(1) Perform onsite decontamination, inspection, assembly, high level disinfection, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment to surgical specialty, clinics , and other departments that may require sterile processing services for eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs
(2) Receive contaminated instruments from the operating rooms, dental clinics, endoscopy, nursing units, eye clinics, wound care, podiatry and inspects these items for damage, ensure instruments are in good working condition, and determine correct method for decontamination and cleaning as per Instructions for Use (IFU) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
(3) Assemble sets and trays by selecting appropriate tray and arranging instruments in the tray in the correct manner, which includes assembly of delicate micro-surgical sets
(4) Advise medical personnel on availability of instrumentation, possible substitutes, and effective use of equipment
(5) Properly load and operate various sterilizers such as steam, hydrogen peroxide gas plasma, disinfecting units, and a high-level disinfecting scope reprocessor unit; monitor performance of sterilizers for quality control by conducting bacteriological tests
(6) Perform duties to include post sterilization inspections of instruments sets and handle sterilized trays, sets, and retrieves peel-packs from sterilizers
(7) Stock sterile items on shelves or delivery carts with tags on sterilized materials indicating date of sterilization and expiration date
REQUIREMENTS. The contractor ideally would have:
(1) Minimum of high school diploma, completion of additional coursework or relevant training program preferred
(2) Certification from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (such as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST))
(3) Knowledge of surgical instruments used in operating rooms and clinic settings.
(4) Knowledge of sterile processing best practices and methods along with medical and surgical terminology, infection control, microbiology, human anatomy, and physiology
(5) US Citizenship and ability to obtain a government-sponsored security clearance required as per contract requirements
