Term: 7 months with a possibility of term extension
Payrate: USD 31.24/hr
Job Summary:
The Claims Specialist is responsible for handling time-loss and catastrophic claims from start to finish, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution. This role involves evaluating compensability, calculating benefits, setting reserves, and coordinating with medical and legal professionals. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to providing fair and efficient claims management in accordance with state and agency policies.
Job Description:

Investigate, evaluate, and determine compensability of time-loss and catastrophic claims.

Calculate average monthly wage, set reserves, and authorize indemnity and medical payments.

Maintain and update claims systems; negotiate settlements when applicable.

Coordinate activities with nurse case managers, attorneys, and other specialists.

Ensure ICD codes and medical documentation remain compliant for Medicare purposes.

Manage litigation in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office or outside counsel.
Must Haves
-
4+ years of experience in claims management, including indemnity or catastrophic claims.

Arizona Adjuster's License (active and in good standing).

Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws and processes.

Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail).

Excellent written and verbal communication skill
Nice to haves:

Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM/claims management software.

Knowledge of ICD coding and Medicare compliance requirements.

Experience coordinating with medical, legal, and subrogation professionals.

Prior work with government or state agencies preferred.
