CNC Machinist - Grand Rapids, MI
Wage: $24 - $32/hour
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Shift: 3rd Shift (7:30 PM - 6:00 AM, Monday to Thursday). Initial training will be conducted on 1st shift for a minimum of 90 days (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Thursday).

Kelly Services, in partnership with a top client, is seeking multiple skilled CNC Machinists to permanently join our client's team in Grand Rapids. This role focuses on the safe and efficient use of CNC machinery to meet customer expectations for quality and punctual delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes to produce parts accurately and efficiently, sometimes operating multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Set up jobs on assigned equipment efficiently.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using tools like micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges, and CMM equipment.
  • Conduct data collection and communicate tasks in Job Boss and other applications.
  • Perform operator-level maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or tooling issues.
  • Execute de-burring or reworking of in-process work.
  • Suggest improvements to optimize and enhance assigned processes.
  • Maintain workstation cleanliness according to 5S standards.
  • Set up, adjust, check out programming, and operate numerically controlled machine tools.
  • Perform progressive machining operations on repetitive work to exacting tolerances and finish specifications.
  • Work from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions for a range of operations including boring, milling, drilling, facing, threading, profiling, and contouring.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in CNC Mill operations or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of machining center principles, including X, Y, and Z axes, and edge and centerline pickup.
  • Proficiency in using common measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators, and CMM equipment.
  • Ability to work well in teams with strong communication skills focused on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Skilled in reading blueprints according to GD&T standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Aptitude for performing basic mathematical functions.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds periodically.
