Controls Engineer

As a Controls Engineer placed with KellyOCG you will be responsible for the following:
We are seeking a Controls Engineer with strong technical acumen and a passion for automation to join our dynamic manufacturing engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize control systems for advanced automated manufacturing equipment in a regulated medical device environment.
You will be instrumental in improving equipment performance, ensuring compliance with FDA, ISO, and GMP standards, and supporting the deployment of innovative automation technologies. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives in a hands-on, problem-solving environment.
- System Design & Development
Design, develop, and implement control systems including PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and robotics for automated manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization
Diagnose and resolve issues related to downtime, quality, and system performance. Continuously optimize equipment for safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all automation systems comply with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and GMP requirements specific to medical device manufacturing.
- Documentation & Validation
Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, support equipment validation activities, and ensure change control processes are followed.
- Process Improvement
Lead initiatives to implement new technologies, conduct root cause analysis for failures, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
- Commissioning & Support
Assist with the commissioning, upgrades, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment. Provide training and support to maintenance and operations teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Technical Expertise
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens)
- Experience with HMI development, motion control, and robotic systems
- Working knowledge of VFDs, sensors, and industrial safety hardware
- 5+ years of relevant experience in controls engineering within medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
