Controls Engineer
Suwanee, GA
Direct Hire, Full Benefits, Competitive Pay
$100K - $150K + Depending on experience 

Do you have experience integrating new automated equipment into existing systems?  A manufacturing company is seeking a Controls Engineer to support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automated manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role requires hands-on experience with PLC programming, industrial automation, electrical controls, and machine safety systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to diagnose complex control issues, modify PLC logic, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Experience with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) and Siemens PLC platforms is required.

Key Responsibilities
PLC & Automation

  • Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC systems for manufacturing and facility equipment
  • Support Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000 / RSLogix) and Siemens (TIA Portal / STEP 7) platforms
  • Program and troubleshoot machine safety systems (light curtains, safety relays/PLCs, interlocks, E-Stops)
  • Perform I/O configuration, industrial networking, and diagnostics (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Profibus)
  • Support and modify HMIs as needed
Maintenance & Engineering Support
  • Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues to minimize downtime
  • Support preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, retrofits, and new installations
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Maintain PLC programs, electrical documentation, backups, and change records

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–7+ years of PLC/controls experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs
  • Experience with machine safety systems and electrical troubleshooting (sensors, motors, VFDs, control panels)
