Job Title: Route Assistant
Reports To: Delivery Territory Manager
Department: Delivery
Location: Augusta, GA
Pay Rate: $17/hour
Schedule: Tuesday-Friday (6am-4:30 or until complete)
Job Summary:
The Route Assistant helps drivers deliver products to customers. This includes loading and unloading vehicles, checking shipments, restocking products, and ensuring deliveries are accurate and meet customer expectations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support drivers with timely and courteous deliveries
- Help with directions on routes
- Ensure all packages are delivered and signatures collected
- Assist drivers with DOT regulations
- Help unload products, check for accuracy and condition, and report any issues
- Restock products at customer locations and rotate inventory
- Communicate any customer concerns to the driver
- Learn delivery routes and customer needs
- May drive company vehicle if over 21 and approved
- Stay updated on company products and distribution rules
- Perform other assigned tasks
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- 1–3 years of related experience preferred
- Clean driving record and valid license
- Good attention to detail and communication
- Able to multitask and manage time
- Able to read, write, and do basic math
- Comfortable using handheld devices and learning new technology
- Able to work in hot, humid, cold, or noisy environments
Physical Requirements:
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Frequent lifting (up to 180 lbs), hand trucks, stairs, and ramps
- Able to stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, and use hands
- Able to climb, stoop, kneel, or crawl as needed
- Good vision and ability to judge distance
