Director of Accounting & Finance
Location: New York City (Hybrid)
Salary: $150,000–$175,000+ (depending on experience)
We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to lead the full accounting and finance function for a growing organization based in New York City. This role will oversee a small, high-performing team of approximately five professionals and will be responsible for both end-to-end accounting operations and FP&A.
This is a hybrid role offering a mix of in-office and remote work. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the complete accounting function, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and compliance
- Manage and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals (approximately 5 direct reports)
- Own the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
- Prepare and present financial statements and performance reports to senior leadership
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls
- Partner with leadership on strategic planning, financial insights, and business decision-making
- Coordinate audits and work with external auditors and advisors
- Improve processes, systems, and controls to support scalability and efficiency
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred)
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Proven experience leading both accounting and FP&A functions
- Prior people management experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced or growing environment
- Competitive salary range of $150K–$175K+, depending on experience
