Position: EDM Operator
Shift: 3rd Shift, Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am
Pay Rate: $22 - $28 per hour, plus a $3 shift differential
Summary:
Kelly has an immediate opening for a dependable EDM Operator to work at our insert manufacturing site located in Lavergne, Tennessee. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and producing precision inserts from wire EDMs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commit to following all safety policies and procedures to maintain a 100% safe work environment.
- Work safely within a team environment while operating production equipment.
- Follow digital work instructions, blueprints, guidelines, diagrams, and schematics to ensure product and customer specifications and tolerance levels are met.
- Execute assigned preventive maintenance and other TPM functions to ensure continuous line operation and a safe, efficient work area.
- Monitor processes and related controls to ensure adherence to production specifications.
- Report any malfunctions or abnormalities and make minor adjustments to correct process variations.
- Align and secure tooling, fixtures, attachments, or materials onto machines.
- Read blueprints and set/check work to various quality control gauges.
- Troubleshoot and determine causes of operating errors.
- Perform inspections of machined products using precision gaging to ensure quality specifications are met.
- Provide feedback for manufacturing process improvement and actively participate in team functions.
- Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Complete all necessary documentation and electronic data entries accurately.
- Move materials, either physically or mechanically, as needed to complete assignments.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing safety, technical blueprints, machining math, written communication, basic computer skills, and HMI.
- Critical thinking abilities for troubleshooting, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and quality control.
- Good interpersonal skills and effective communication within a team environment.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading and proper use of precision measurement tools.
- Ability to efficiently receive verbal and written information and communicate instructions to others.
- Attention to detail in reading process instructions and drawings.
- Willingness to work daily and weekend overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and stand/move around for the entire shift.
- Flexibility for over/under shift coverage.
- Proficiency in shop math, including geometry and conversions (trigonometry is a plus).
- Hands-on working knowledge of CNC Wire EDM, robotics, and manufacturing control systems is a plus.
- Previous experience in metal cutting or CNC operations in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
