EHS Specialist
Kelly Engineering | Medical Device Manufacturer | Petaluma, CA
Pay Rate: $55–$60 per hour
Duration: 3+ months (Contract, with potential for extension or full-time hire)
About the Opportunity:
Kelly Engineering is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join a leading medical device manufacturer in Petaluma, CA. In this contract role, you'll be responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing lab safety protocols in our Quality Control laboratory. This opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate and the possibility for extensions or full-time hire based on performance and business needs.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and medical device industry safety standards within QC and microbiology labs.
- Develop and implement detailed safety guidelines, protocols, audit procedures, and SOPs for purchasing, handling, and discarding laboratory materials.
- Establish and document procedures for acquiring and safely storing bacteria in Class 2 lab environments.
- Train and support laboratory staff during the transition to new safety procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with management to identify and address safety risks and recommend improvements.
- 3–5 years of EHS, laboratory safety, or related experience—ideally within pharmaceutical, medical device, or laboratory environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Level 1 and Class 2 lab safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Proven experience developing and implementing SOPs, safety guidelines, and audit processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to train and support lab personnel.
- Competitive pay rate: $55–$60 per hour.

- Possibility for role extension or conversion to full-time, based on performance and company needs.
- Exposure to future projects in manufacturing safety (e.g., chlorine gas handling).
