Engineering Technician
Location: Menlo Park, CA
Pay Rate: $36 - $40 an hour – Depending on experience and/or education, PLUS $4.98/hour Health & Welfare entitlement
Shift: Day shift - Full Time – Long Term Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician. The ideal candidate will be adept at assembling, testing, and maintaining a wide range of electronic and electro-mechanical systems. This role requires strong hands-on skills, a solid understanding of fundamental electrical and mechanical principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, fabricate, test, and troubleshoot electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Construct mechanical systems, electronic enclosures, and fixtures using 3D CAD models, technical drawings, or sketches.
- Design and install custom cabling solutions for various applications.
- Perform electrical and mechanical repairs and conduct preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Create and update schematics and wiring diagrams using ECAD software.
- Manage inventory of common and spare components, including mounting hardware and Swagelok parts.
- Document operational and safety procedures in compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, physicists, and chemists to design, install, and modify systems.
- Solid understanding of Ohm's law and basic digital and analog electrical circuits.
- Proficiency with commercial test equipment for measuring voltage, current, and frequency.
- Strong grasp of shop math and the ability to calculate cumulative tolerances and interferences.
- Skilled in using various hand tools and small power tools, such as electric drills, hole punches, and saws.
- Basic programming or configuration skills for microcontrollers and/or PLCs are a plus.
- Proven ability to provide guidance and coordinate with team members effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to discuss technical challenges with a wide range of stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
- 3 years of relatable job experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certification or college preferred but not required.
