Description

The Hourly Safety Coordinator plays an active role in the location's safety and health programs, focusing on injury prevention, compliance improvements, and enhanced employee engagement. This position contributes to a safer and more productive work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improve injury prevention, employee engagement, and compliance activities at the assigned location.
  • Actively participate in all location employee-led team projects and Gemba walks, including compliance inspections and hazard identification.
  • Communicate team projects to peers and location leaders.
  • Support safety programs and may assist with Behavior Based Safety (BBS) training efforts.
  • Conduct Safety Training (Monthly, Refresher, Initial, etc.) for peers, new hires, visitors, and vendors, as appropriate.
  • Audit On-The-Job Training for gaps and identify and help correct those gaps.
  • Participate in Tier I and Tier II Sessions, updating safety boards and following up on safety-related items.
  • Train leaders and peers on 1-on-1 Engagements and Near Miss Reporting Programs.
  • Analyze data from existing programs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow up on Safety Flashes/Alerts from other locations.
  • Assist with on-site safety incident investigations and data entry into electronic safety reporting systems.
  • Perform other tasks aligned with compliance, injury prevention, and employee engagement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Passionate about safety as it relates to employee engagements, compliance, and injury prevention.
  • Baseline knowledge of programs such as Lockout Tagout, PPE, Machine Guarding, Forklift Safety, Behavior Based Safety, 1-on-1 Engagements, Employee Led Teams, OSHA regulations, etc.
  • Basic Microsoft skills (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  • Competent in the use of a calculator and ruler/tape measure.
  • Proficient in English (read, write, talk).
  • Capable of communicating in front of large groups and interacting with peers and site leaders.
  • Reliable and dependable in completing work assignments.
  • Accomplished in coaching peers and willing to coach leaders.
  • Experience working in an industrial/manufacturing/warehouse environment.
Physical Requirements/Environmental/Working Conditions:
  • Combination of office and shop floor-based activities in a manufacturing location.
  • Standing for lengthy periods (frequent).
  • Sitting for extended periods (frequent).
  • Climbing up/downstairs/ladders/platforms (occasional).
  • Working in a manufacturing environment with periods of hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment (frequent).
  • Working at ground level (frequent).
  • Working outside the manufacturing plant/outside property (occasional).
  • Working inside the manufacturing plant (frequently).
  • Roof access (occasional).
Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday, typically 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
  • Approximately once per week, the schedule may shift to 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM to accommodate night shift meetings (negotiable).
