Sewing Technician – Aerospace Manufacturing

Our company specializes in crafting advanced space suits for government missions, and we're seeking an experienced Sewing Technician to ensure every suit meets the highest standards of safety and quality.
Job Specifications:
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Company: Leading Space Suit Manufacturer (Government Contractor)
- Location: Clear Lake area
- Pay Rate: $26.51–$34.01 per hour
- Shift: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday
As a Sewing Technician, you'll play a key role in assembling and finishing space suits that protect astronauts in the harshest environments. You'll use your sewing and fabrication expertise to join, reinforce, and inspect materials, ensuring every product meets government standards. This is a hands-on position with opportunities to work with advanced equipment and contribute to space exploration.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Sew materials by hand or machine to join, reinforce, or decorate suit components
- Cut fabrics based on instructions, trim excess material with precision tools
- Inspect finished products to verify measurements and quality
- Monitor sewing machines for issues; handle thread and attachments
- Set up materials and patterns for sewing; maintain and maneuver equipment
- Log processed materials and maintain accurate records
- Adhere to strict product quality standards using specialized sewing equipment
- Take on additional tasks as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of sewing or softgoods manufacturing experience (aerospace preferred)
- Skilled with industrial sewing machines (Straight Stitch, Walking Foot, Bartack, Buttonhole, 3 Thread Rolled Hem Serger)
- Able to read and understand fabrication instructions and assembly drawings
- Proficient in making soft-good patterns
- Precise fabric cutting and sewing abilities
- Able to spot and troubleshoot machine problems
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
