OVERVIEW
Kelly Engineering is looking for a Field Service Technician for our client in Hanover, PA. SUMMARY
Responsible for assembling machines and sub-assemblies to meet both in-house and customer requirements. Must demonstrate machine capability; install machines in the customer's facilities; provide technical direction to the customer in machine maintenance and operation; and repair, refurbish and retrofit existing machines. Must demonstrate mechanical, assembly and technical abilities. The Service Technician should have a working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and programming language

  • Assembles sub-assemblies and assemblies in a manner that ensures the customer receives a quality product. Plumbs hydraulics and pneumatics to the project specifications
  • Performs tasks in a safe, cost-efficient, and timely manner. Inspects a variety of machine parts to ensure compliance to specification.
  • Performs demonstrations of machine capabilities for both customer and in-house purposes.
  • Performs machine installations in customer facilities, ensuring a safe operation that meets or exceeds the customer expectations.
  • Adjusts/tunes machines to optimal operating condition.
  • Takes customer service calls to answer technical questions regarding the maintenance and operation of machines
  • Performs machine repairs on customer machines in their facilities.
  • Performs basic milling, lathe, and bench-type machining of parts, when needed, at both company and customer facilities
  • Represents company in a manner that supports the desires of the Company and meets the needs of the customer
  • Adheres to the customer's plant rules.
  • Installs retrofit accessories to machines in the field.
  • Performs machine surveys to list parts required to do both minor and major machine repair.
  • Rebuilds outdated or worn machines.
  • Maintains proper housekeeping standards in work area daily.
  • Works well independently or in unison with other Assemblers and Service Technicians.
  • May, from time to time, be appointed as a team leader of a given machine or project where the technical coordination of other employees may be required.
  • Informs shop management of work progress, identifies shortages and problem areas to both engineering and shop management, and recommends corrective action as required.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to Lean.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years each or more as a machine shop operator, an assembler of rewinding and folding machines and as a road service technician for customer equipment preferred.
  • 2-year degree or certificate in electronics, mechatronics, or machine maintenance preferred.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming language preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and MS Office Software required.

  • Willingness to travel globally to client facilities via ground or air, often at short notice, for up to 50% of the time.
  • Efficient time management and flexibility in offering aid in different areas when needed.

  • Handles challenging customer situations, solicits feedback for service improvement, and meets commitments.
  • Strong mechanical, assembling, and service skills.
  • Ability to understand complex assembly blueprints and electrical or pneumatic diagrams.
  • Proficient in using machine trade measuring tools.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills within a team setting.
  • Capable of independently troubleshooting electrical and electronic components using schematics, multi-meter, and programming software with minimal supervision.
