Put your manufacturing and material handling skills to work with Smurfit WestRock in Conover, NC. We are hiring Finishing Utility / Flatpack Operators to support our finishing, packing, and material handling operations in a fast-paced corrugated packaging facility.

? Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
? Schedule: 12-hour shift, 7 PM – 7 AM, 4 days on / 4 days off (paid lunch)
? Work Environment: Industrial manufacturing facility focused on finishing and flatpack operations, with automated packers, shrink tunnels, robots, and electric pallet jack handling. Safety, 5S housekeeping, and PPE compliance are required.
? What's a typical day as a Finishing Utility / Flatpack Operator? You will:
? Place cartons on conveyors, maintaining proper orientation and stack height.
? Pack cartons using automatic packers or hand pack when needed; perform bulk-pack, break-away, and case-pack tasks.
? Operate shrink tunnels and perform basic robot loading/unloading tasks (training provided).
? Perform in-process quality audits and pack finished cartons into corrugated cases.
? Transport pallets of cartons using electric pallet jacks from forklift drop to storage area (no forklift traffic zone).
? Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in assigned area.
? Follow all safety policies and participate in safety programs (S.T.E.P., “Let's Talk Safety”).
? Attend site tour and initial onboarding; PPE required (safety glasses, steel/composite toe shoes, gloves, bump cap, hearing protection).
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
Previous experience in finishing, packaging, or flatpack operations (corrugated or consumer goods).
Comfort working in a safety-sensitive, industrial manufacturing environment.
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, lift up to 50 lbs, and maintain attention to detail.
Basic math, measuring, and data entry skills; ability to use plant systems.
Willingness to follow safety absolutes and wear required PPE.
