Job Description:
Puerto Rico and USVI FSE & Technical Instructor
Job conditions
·        The position is physically located in Puerto Rico, therefore the person holding this position must live in Puerto Rico.
·        Focus is 30% Field Service Engineering, assisting Dealers to diagnose and repair extremely complex and difficult issues, and 70% technical training – both at the Dealer and at the Training Center in PR, in both English and Spanish languages.  Although the responsible market area is Puerto Rico, there will be ad hoc requests to help with concerns in Caribbean and Central America – based on workload issues between the two technical personnel.
·        The position requires up to 30% travel.
·        The individual must have dominance and native fluency of both English and Spanish.
Job description
Field Service Engineer (30% of the time) 

  • Manage and respond to all Technical Assistance Requests from regional Dealers, and document all Field Service Engineering activity in the appropriate Customer systems.
  • Participate in the Product Concern Resolution Process with the central Emerging Markets Product Concern Engineering Team.
  • Initiate activities & perform studies to develop and increase the Dealer's Vehicle "Fix-It-Right-The-First-Time" (FIRTFT) capability, and follow-up with each assigned Dealer to implement improvement actions.
  • Ensure the needed tools and equipment are available at all Customer Dealers to perform proper diagnosis and repair, and advise in procuring tools and equipment where needed.
  • Provide direct vehicle technical support to Dealers in conjunction with scheduled visits.
  • Coordinate New Model Product Launch Support throughout the region and assist in identifying any launch concerns.
  • Fulfill ad hoc assignment requests as it relates to the overall technical support for the Dealers in the region.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time.
 
Technical Trainer (70% of the time) 
  • Master the Customer Technical Training Curriculum – North American and European.
  • Provide timely, accurate and cost efficient technical training.
  • Work with Dealer management to drive the implementation and completion of Web-based technical training by the technicians.
  • Drive the implementation and sustainment of the Corporate Technical Training Strategy for the PRCCA Region.
  • Update all corporate training systems and databases for assigned dealership technicians' training achievements.
  • Develop technical training schedules and communicate to dealers, and regional personnel.
  • Manage the Technical Training tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate reservation of training locations and acquisition of appropriate training materials, tools, and components.
  • Monitor the Shop Competency status of all assigned Dealers, and develop training plans to address any deficiencies.
 
Qualifications and Requirements  
·        Five+ years of related work experience as an automotive engineer, auto technician, mechanic and/or technical trainer.
·        Excellent interpersonal and social skills.
·        Fluent in both English and Spanish languages.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data from a PC, vehicle diagnostic tools, and data loggers.
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair capabilities.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Self-Motivated with a positive attitude.
  • The ability to think critically and do what needs to be done without always having specific instructions.
