Position Overview

A driven sales team seeks a Growth Merchant Lead to win new business and expand partnerships with local restaurant and food/beverage merchants across emerging markets. This is a field-based sales role focused on building relationships, negotiating agreements, and driving success in untapped, rural, or growing regions. The position blends transactional field sales with territory travel and entrepreneurial strategy development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel throughout assigned territory (within 2 hours of Columbus, with some overnights and longer travel as needed) to prospect, pitch, and close new merchant partnerships in emerging markets.

  • Sell restaurant and small business owners on the value of partnering with the platform, negotiating revenue share agreements and onboarding new accounts.

  • Manage a high-velocity transactional sales cycle, consistently closing new business within days.

  • Coordinate territory activities and strategy with a Regional Sales Manager and collaborate with the wider sales team.

  • Leverage provided sales resources, collateral, and tools to maximize effectiveness and close rates.

  • Track activities and results for compliance, leveraging strong communication and organization skills.

  • Travel costs fully covered; compliance with travel expense policies is required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of sales experience in a closing role, ideally selling to SMBs (restaurants, food/beverage experience strongly preferred).

  • Proven track record of achieving quotas and growing new business in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time; comfortable with overnight stays and longer-distance travel as required.

  • Effective with both inside and outside sales strategies to meet and exceed goals.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset – able to develop playbooks for scalable and repeatable growth.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
