Contract Role (12–18 Months | Possible Extension)
Pay Rate: $36–$48/per hour
Work Arrangement: Onsite for training; hybrid once fully trained
Location: Onsite initially (hybrid after ramp-up)

  Position Overview
Our client is undergoing a major HR systems upgrade and is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager – HR Strategic Solutions to provide hands-on, strategic HR support during this transition. This is a 12-month contract role with a potential extension.
The role will report directly to the CHRO and Director HR, with no direct reports, but will work closely with the Department of Labor Relations, requiring strong influence and indirect leadership capabilities.
A significant focus of this role will be HRIS data cleanup, system maintenance, and optimization, particularly related to Workday readiness and functionality. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting for PeopleAdmin and Vector Solutions
  • Support Workday-related data cleanup and ongoing HR system maintenance (key focus area)
  • Lead implementation of the HR strategic plan, including:
    • Talent development
    • Retention strategies
    • Workforce planning
  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations to ensure uninterrupted delivery of core services
  • Manage complex employee and labor relations matters
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and team meetings to drive engagement and accountability
  • Maintain HR systems outside the ERP (e.g., ATS, performance management tools, background check platforms)
  • Launch and sustain:
    • Leadership development programs
    • Career pathways
    • Performance management frameworks
    • Succession planning initiatives
  • Partner closely with Academic Affairs, Finance & Budget, Legal, IT, and Union leadership
  • Track and analyze HR KPIs and metrics to support continuous improvement
  • Drive change management and process improvement initiatives during the system upgrade
Required Competencies & Qualifications
  • Proven strategic HR leadership experience
  • Strong people management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to make data-informed decisions using HR metrics and KPIs
  • Experience with change management and process improvement
  • Broad HR expertise across:
    • HRIS / HR systems
    • Compensation
    • Employee and labor relations
    • Talent development
  • Experience working in an education environment
    • K–12 experience acceptable
    • Higher education experience strongly preferred
Additional Details
  • Contract Duration: 12 months, with possible 6-month extension
  • Rate: $36–$48/hour
