Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Imports Supervisor in Elk Grove Village, IL. Experience in the air freight industry is preferred.

Salary $27/hr - $33/hr

Shift:
Mon-Fri daytime hours (approx. 8am – 5pm)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support import operations including domestic freight delivery, documentation, and customer service
• Conduct audits to verify physical shipments accuracy using bills of lading, invoices, and other documents
• Identify, record, and report any discrepancies
• Prepare, distribute or process documentation to ensure required documents are in place and correct
• Coordinate and communicate with customers, agents, vendors, and shippers to maintain process flows and resolve issues
• Lead other import clerks for smooth daily operations
• Receive and track purchase orders (POs) from Importers/Overseas offices for pending air shipments
• Execute orders by confirming arrival times, coordinating with customs brokerage, inputting date, and dispatching deliveries
• Obtain all necessary documentation from shipment carriers, match them with pre-advice, and open files in the system
• Issue delivery orders to carriers and arrange timely delivery
• Monitor and traces lost freight and shortages; follow up with airlines/shipping lines and inform all parties involved
• Communicate with and ensure release of freight from air carries
• Perform data entry of shipping and cargo details via AS400 following required procedures
• Completes, review and file Inbound documentation (Arrival Notice, Delivery Order and POD)
• Notify client/customs broker of arrival and charges due; provide accurate job costing forecast and perform billing to client and/or other offices
• Maintain logs, entries and import traffic
• Ensure that each file contains all necessary documentation in sequence

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 - 7 years in the air freight industry  
• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to maintain good relationships with customers and suppliers (air carriers, trucking companies, and others involved)
• Understand and comply with TSA regulations and import regulations
• Have knowledge of airport codes, carrier routes, geographic knowledge of key cities in each country
• Detail orientated and strong follow up skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Good organizational and time management skills
