Summary
The Industrial Manufacturing Maintenance and Equipment Manager oversees the maintenance and repair of all equipment and facilities within the manufacturing plants, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This includes managing both preventative and corrective maintenance, supervising maintenance teams, and implementing strategies to optimize equipment uptime and minimize downtime. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement and maintain procedures for Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of the staff, ensuring the effectiveness of the Program, encouraging good cooperation between all aspects of the program; ensuring that the maintenance technicians have the necessary resources and skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Provide direction and communicate priorities to maintenance personnel. 
  • Develop and maintain an effective and efficient team while fostering an atmosphere/culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Oversee development of safety plans and safety training for maintenance personnel.
  • Prepare reports, perform written analyses, and maintain administrative function for all maintenance responsibilities.
  • Assure that inspections are being conducted at each location (at least quarterly), prepare report of findings and implement action plan for necessary improvements.
  • Provide ongoing technical support in identifying necessary repairs of facilities, malfunctioning machines, and other circumstances associated with maintaining and improving the integrity, reliability, safety, and services.
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively with vendors and contractors to obtain proposals and or contracts for necessary services, as requested and approved.
  • Assists in the purchasing of new equipment and tools.
  • Ensure that appropriate maintenance inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained.
  • Initiate cost savings measures to ensure that all capital projects, maintenance planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed accurately and that all capital and maintenance projects are delivered within cost, schedule and performance success criteria.
  • Responsible for assisting in plant layout decisions including locations of machines and other support areas in order to facilitate continuous flow.
  • Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting / problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime. Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime /inefficient operational issues. Measure and upgrade standards for all job functions and procedures.
  • Installs electrical power for various machines and tools related to the production areas of the plant encompassing the ability to locate electrical trouble and repair any electrical equipment or system in the plant; including repair, adjustment, complete rebuilding, and works on hot circuits and installs conduits
  • Interface closely with other departments to ensure projects involving facility maintenance are defined accurately and executed effectively.
  • Oversees maintenance of the building/facility and grounds including building maintenance and repairs, lawn care and snow removal, ensuring a professional appearance is maintained.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Strong understanding of industrial equipment, machinery, and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of PM and TPM methodologies. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and develop efficient maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to understand plant layouts and manufacturing equipment processes.
  • Ability to read tape measure and convert fractions to decimal measurements.
  • Ability to read schematic drawings.
  • Ability to read and use measuring equipment, including micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and other departments.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints.
  • Must wear steel toed shoes and safety glasses in all plant facilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, other departments, and the public; ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for manufacturing environments.
  • Forklift certification.
Education/Training/Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or equivalent. Minimum of 2-4 years or secondary degree/greater education or other formal training within a manufacturing/production maintenance environment required. Experience with electrical work and repairs, welding, fabricating, hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid processes. Proven experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives including Preventive and Predictive maintenance systems.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly talk and hear.
  • Regularly see using close and distant vision.
  • Occasionally walk, climb, balance, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50-70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
