Inventory Control Clerk
Location: Aurora, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Shift: 2st Shift
Payrate: $25-$30/hour
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory records through physical counts, discrepancy investigation, and system updates. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy within a fast-paced, occasionally chaotic warehouse and distribution environment. The contractor will work closely with operations and inventory teams to identify root causes of discrepancies and correct operational errors.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities-
Perform physical inventory counts and cycle counts of merchandise in stock

Investigate inventory discrepancies by comparing physical counts with system records, sales orders, production records, and purchase invoices

Verify clerical and system calculations against physical inventory and correct errors

Identify, document, and report root causes of inventory variances

Generate inventory reports, including balance reports and shortage reports

Prepare lists of depleted, defective, or unusable items and recommend further review

Communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders and support corrective actions

Support inventory accuracy initiatives during ongoing operational changes

Onsite warehouse/distribution environment

Fast-paced and occasionally disorganized during peak activity

Hands-on role requiring physical counting and floor presence

Team-oriented culture that values accuracy, accountability, and collaboration

Strong attention to detail with a high focus on accuracy

Ability to perform manual inventory counts and reconcile data

Basic math and record-verification skills

Good computer and technology skills; ability to quickly learn new systems

Experience working with inventory or warehouse management systems

Prior exposure to inventory reporting or discrepancy analysis

Strong work ethic and reliability

Comfortable working in a fast-moving and occasionally chaotic environment

Clear communication skills

Education: High School Diploma or GED required

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of related inventory, warehouse, or distribution experience

Industry Preference: Food manufacturing, food distribution, or similar industries preferred
