Inventory Specialist
Location: East Durham, New York
Shift: 3rd Shift (11 PM - 7 AM, Monday to Friday)
Salary: $27.60/hour
Job Summary:
The Inventory Specialist role provides on-site support in the logistics area of the storeroom. Responsibilities include receiving, stocking, issuing, maintaining inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and client interaction. The position focuses on serving client needs, locating and delivering stock items, using systems to track and verify inventory, and maintaining strong customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Follow site Safety and Security Procedures; perform tasks safely and report unsafe conditions to management.
- Provide high-level customer service to internal and external customers; report concerns to supervisor promptly.
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and SOPs.
- Unpack, verify, and enter received materials into appropriate software systems.
- Issue materials to clients; handle pulling, staging, and kitting as required.
- Place received materials into storage; perform tagging, repacking, delivering, and special handling if necessary.
- Process returns for unused materials following SOP guidelines.
- Prepare materials for vendor returns or repairs per SOPs.
- Perform cycle counts and report stock discrepancies to management for resolution.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by count and location; manage barcode replacements and relocations in ERP system.
- Verify inventory quantities and identify reorder needs.
- Regularly clean and organize the storeroom.
- Support corporate initiatives and assist with special projects as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Basic math skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift license
Experience & Requirements:
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel; ability to learn new software systems
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
- Ability to follow procedures and ensure accuracy
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, standing, and carrying/lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted
- Occasional use of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment for materials over 40 lbs.
- Daily reading, writing, and speaking in English
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting for inventory handling
- Flexibility for shift changes and required overtime as needed
