Fire Assay Lab Technician – Englewood, CO

Type: Contract (1-yr, potential for conversion)
Shift: M-F 1st Shift, 9/80 Schedule
Pay Rate: $30-$35/hr

We are seeking a Fire Assay Lab Technician to join our Analytical Team. This position works with the lab manager and engineering staff to provide accurate and timely gold analysis for samples including geological and process products.

Summary of Duties / Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to):

  • Mix dry chemicals used for fluxing, including lead oxide
  • Weighing and mixing samples
  • Loading furnaces, pouring fusions, and cupelling buttons
  • Weighing dores and prills
  • Parting dores
  • Operating flame AA instrumentation for analysis of gold in solutions
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as required.

  • Demonstrated experience in performing fire assay procedures both in the furnace room and wet chemistry operations
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols
  • Experienced in performing analysis on a variety of sample types
  • Reliable, honest and a high standard of integrity
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and fluid environment
  • Established organizational skills, communication, dependability, and work ethic
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Understanding of math, chemistry and safety considerations pertinent to fire assay
  • Comprehension of Microsoft Suite of programs (Excel, Word, Project)
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in science related field preferred
Experience Requirements:
  • Over 2 years of experience in a related field is preferred
  • Able to read and understand written procedures and standard operation procedures
  • Able to work safely with hazardous chemicals
  • Comfortable working in hot environments
