Today, Kelly Science is searching for an experienced Research Technologist to join our team at a Fortune 500 Chemical Company in Baytown, TX for a long-term assignment
Laboratory Technician (Long-Term Contract)
Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Company
Main Functions

  • Support laboratory supervisors and chemists by performing both routine and non-routine laboratory analyses, including wet chemistry, of product and in-process samples to ensure plant operational quality assurance and control.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory test equipment, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Prepare samples, chemical stock solutions, and reagents for testing; set preparation standards according to company and industry procedures.
  • Accurately generate, record, and report laboratory data, following standardized operating procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Utilize various analytical instruments to address quality assurance and control issues, troubleshoot irregular results, and assist in process improvements.
  • Maintain an organized, clean laboratory workspace, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental policies.
  • Receive direction and support from supervisors; perform tasks with moderate autonomy, demonstrating skill and knowledge suitable to the position.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience required; graduates from Polytechnic programs with backgrounds in Chemical, Process, or Technical Engineering will be considered.
  • Prior experience in laboratory testing or quality control systems, preferably within oil, gas, or petrochemical industries.
  • Computer-literate with proficiency in standard lab reporting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with quality control systems and maintaining accurate calibration and test documentation.
  • Highly observant, with strong attention to detail and analytical skills; able to interpret data and troubleshoot dynamically.
  • Demonstrates good housekeeping and safety awareness; familiar with standard laboratory and chemical safety protocols.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills; able to follow direction but also work independently as needed
