Job Title: Laboratory Technician 

Job Description:
The Laboratory Technician supports pilot plant operations by conducting laboratory analyses and evaluating results to provide critical data for decision-making. Responsibilities include preparing samples, performing basic calibrations, maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analytical methods. The technician uses data systems to acquire and monitor analytical results and reports findings to clients. This role requires well-developed technical skills in analytical scientific methods or operational processes and may serve as an informal resource for less experienced team members.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform routine laboratory analyses.
  • Collect samples according to the established Sample Plan.
  • Prepare basic calibration standards.
  • Conduct basic calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical systems.
  • Evaluate the validity of data, apply basic statistical methods, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor analytical systems, identify issues, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate more complex problems as needed.
  • Document, communicate, and archive analytical results and calibration data accurately.
  • Follow EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and best practices in all work tasks.
  • Suggest improvements to laboratory work processes and tools.
  • Escalate non-routine requests to appropriate team members for follow-up.

Experience and Education:
  • Completion of Vocational Education or Upper Secondary Education (e.g., High School Diploma) with relevant experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Post-secondary coursework in chemistry or a related discipline is preferred.
