Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Lead Histologist for a direct hire position at a premier clinical diagnostics company in San Diego, CA. Pay Rate:
$40+/hour

Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Responsibilities:

• Receive, process, and prepare patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the pathologist.
• Perform all aspects of microtomy, including cutting, sample capture, sample return, mounting, and staining procedures.
• Ensure compliance with state and national regulatory agencies.
• Interface with other departments, including laboratory, Pre-Analytical, and the pathologist.
• Assist with administrative duties as assigned.
• Produce the highest quality of microtomy and H&E staining.
• Prepare microscopic slides on human tissue for research/diagnostic purposes, including embedding, microtomy, and mounting paraffin processed tissue.
• Process specimen accessioning, including all manual and computerized data entry.
• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist(s) according to established SOPs.
• Perform sample capture for submitting samples to Molecular.
• Serve as a departmental Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Train new and existing employees on histology tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree and Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in molecular diagnostics.
• Ability to rapidly cut and mount high-quality tissue sections from a variety of tissue types, including needle biopsies.
• Maintains continuing education units required by the California Department of Health Services.
• Experience with all major brands of histology equipment.
