Lead Industrial Painter (Working Team Leader – Paint Department)

Location: 9816 Evergreen Industrial Drive, Saint Louis, MO 63123
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Compensation: $31/hour
Reports to: Rich

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Lead Industrial Painter to join our fast-paced aerospace manufacturing team. The successful candidate will oversee the Paint Department's day-to-day operations, coordinate production needs, ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards, and provide leadership to department team members. This is a working team leader position, responsible for both hands-on production tasks and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily production needs with other department leaders.
  • Oversee and inspect work routed to the Paint Department, ensuring parts, assemblies, and finished products meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain and clean paint equipment; change filters and replace parts as needed.
  • Monitor inventory for expired materials and replenish as necessary.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and support team members in daily activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to paint department staff.
  • Monitor attendance, review and approve time-off requests, and manage weekly timecards.
  • Communicate issues and escalate concerns to supervisors, Human Resources, or Senior Leadership as needed.
  • Provide daily and weekly reports, update KPIs, and conduct Weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Anticipate constraints, communicate potential challenges to leadership, and adapt plans to meet production deadlines.
  • Overtime may be required on occasion but is never mandatory.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience painting metal components in accordance with customer drawings.
  • Basic shop math and computer skills.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, grime, and heat.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Lift parts, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Commitment to following all safety policies and procedures.
Work Attire
  • Work pants or jeans, closed-toed shoes (steel-toed not required), shorts also acceptable.

  • Paid Time Off (PTO): 80 hours to start (negotiable for senior leaders up to 120–160 hours).

  • No phones permitted on the production floor.
