Machine Operator - Woodworker (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Madison Heights, MI
Shifts Available: 2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday, 2:30pm – 1:00am; Friday, 2:30pm – 8:30pm (OT as required)
Pay Rate: $20.00
Job Overview:
Kelly Services is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operators - Woodworkers to support our client, a leader in branded environments for nearly 50 years. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about woodworking, craftsmanship, and hands-on production work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, and assemble raw materials such as plywood, MDF, particleboard, and hardwoods.
• Operate woodworking machinery, including routers, table saws, sliding table saws, power drills, sanders, and nail guns.
• Perform gluing, fitting, clamping, and sanding to assemble high-quality wood products.
• Read and follow basic shop drawings and written instructions.
• Identify different wood species and understand their applications.
• Conduct basic maintenance on hand tools and glue pots.
• Ensure quality control and time management for production efficiency.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Basic knowledge of measuring tools (tape measure, ruler, meter gauges).
• Familiarity with hand carpentry tools and woodworking techniques.
• Ability to read shop drawings and written work instructions.
• Experience with laminate application, veneer work, and finishing is a plus.
• Understanding of signage, graphics materials, and manufacturing processes is a bonus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
• Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Use hands to handle tools, materials, and controls.
• Safety glasses must be worn at all times in the shop.
