Join our dynamic team as a Machine Operator, where you'll play a critical role in the Header department by operating and setting up mechanical descaler machinery and managing material handling activities. This position focuses on maintaining organized wire storage, managing steel inventory, and supporting production with accurate records and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and tear down the Straighten and Cut-off machine and D2L machine.
- Assist in material handling activities, ensuring incoming coils are correctly identified and stored.
- Maintain continuous inventory records with accurate postings on all steel transactions.
- Provide Production Control with up-to-date records and support cycle counting processes.
- Assemble boxes and crates, and transport pans of work through various departments.
- Perform general clean-up throughout the plant and ensure department cleanliness.
- Move wire, in-process work, and finished products to required operations or warehouse.
- Deliver stock to production machines and verify counts and documentation.
- Unload, weigh, and store steel using a bridge crane, lift truck, and green rod handling.
- Handle packaging tasks, including washing, labeling, sealing, wrapping, and transport.
- Occasionally perform duties of Oiler/Greaser/Factory Janitor/Swamper.
- Make minor equipment repairs and assist Maintenance with major repairs.
- Inspect pieces frequently to ensure cleanliness and quality production.
- Experience in machine operation and material handling in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong attention to detail for maintaining accurate inventory and production records.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials.
- Familiarity with operating machinery, lift trucks, and cranes.
- Basic maintenance and repair skills preferred.
- Excellent organization skills to keep the workspace clean and orderly.
