Maintenance Technician
Location: Compton
Industry: Food Manufacturing
Shift: 1st Shift – 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Schedule Requirements:

12-hour shifts on select weekdays (starting at 12:00 a.m.)

Saturday work required 1–2 times per month
Pay Rate: $28–$29 per hour (DOE)
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with a strong background in food manufacturing to support plant operations in Compton, CA. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, food safety compliance, and uninterrupted production. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on mechanical maintenance experience and the ability to troubleshoot across multiple systems in a fast-paced GMP environment.
Primary Responsibilities-
Work closely with Production and Quality teams to maintain continuous operations

Support Engineering in executing plant-wide projects

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and control systems

Operate, troubleshoot, and repair Steam, Refrigeration, and Wastewater systems

Perform equipment repairs in a timely and efficient manner

Fabricate components, tools, and equipment as needed

Execute Preventative Maintenance (PM) work as directed; complete work independently without disrupting production

Direct actions to ensure a safe working environment

Operate and monitor boilers

Utilize CMMS for work order entry, completion, requisitions, and inventory tracking

Use SAP for purchase requisitions

Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
-
Minimum: 5+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience

Required: Food manufacturing experience
-
Experience working in food manufacturing and GMP environments
-
Familiarity with sanitary processing systems
-
Experience troubleshooting pumps, gearboxes, steam traps, and related mechanical equipment

Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems (motors, drives, PLCs, temperature/flow controls) is a plus
-
Fabrication skills (stainless steel and sanitary welding a plus)

Boiler experience required; Blue or Black Seal Boiler License is a plus

Experience operating forklifts and lifts

Comfortable working at elevated heights

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Strong communication skills

Willingness to learn new and existing processing systems
