Material Handler - The Material Operator, using material handling equipment, is responsible for the accurate order picking, receiving, put-away, loading, unloading and/or shipping of product to meet company standards including safety, security, damage free, and productivity. Essential Job Functions Responsible for performing some/all of the following material handling activities: o Order Picking pick orders for shipment according to instructions on bill of lading or pick sheet and assemble various types of merchandise to be shipped in an accurate method. o Order Packing pack orders for shipment in a way that reduces the ability for damage to occur in transit. o Checking check or count freight for accuracy and/or damages. o Unloading/Unloading accurate loading/unloading of product to meet company requirements. Operate material handling equipment in a manner which promotes safety and security using safety equipment as required. Charge batteries as needed. Equipment specified including, but not limited to: Electric Pallet Jack/Walkie Rider, Reach Truck, Cherry Picker, Standup Forklift, Dock Stocker and/or Sit Down Forklift. Participate in physical inventories and perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and re-packing as needed. Assist with repair pallets and/or clean out trailers if necessary. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Human Resources [01.05.2024] Follow all safety and security regulations and company guidelines. Complete all safety training within the specified timeframe, applying all appropriate actions. Utilize all tools and equipment as trained to do so, stopping when unsafe, utilizing Hub Group employee s Stop Work Authority. Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential function of the job. Overtime may be required. Honors commitments and the values of Hub Group Service, Integrity and Innovation . Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent related experience. Previous experience with material operating equipment minimum 1 year with electric pallet jack and/or a minimum of 1-3 years with other material operating equipment . Previous experience using RF Scanner and WMS systems preferred. Ability to follow procedures and work instructions. Ability to read and write legibly. Ability to communicate with co-workers, leads, supervisors, and/or manager as to progress in tasks/functions being performed. Ability to perform calculations involving adding, counting, subtracting, division and multiplication. Physical Work Environment Demands While performing the duties of this job, Employee will be required to manually lift and stack products that ranges from 5 pounds to 75 pounds. Push carts of material with light to moderate force. Must be capable of sitting, standing, reaching, bending, lifting, or walking for extended periods of time with moderate to high frequency. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. The work element will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter this position is not in a temperature-controlled environment. Must be able to work additional hours as needed
