Mechanical Designer

Location - Traver, CA
Direct Hire (Must work without sponsorship)
Salary - 80k - 100k

 

Job Purpose

Design facility and equipment layout solutions for the manufacturing of sorting, packing, and support systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design equipment layout solutions utilizing appropriate material handling equipment.

  • Review and validate sales layouts to ensure compliance with specifications, throughput volumes, proper equipment selection, material requirements, and optimal equipment placement.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Engineering teams during final project specification, equipment development, and concept evaluation of engineered solutions.

  • Develop detailed designs using computer-assisted design and drafting (CAD) software (Autocad or Solidworks)

  • Utilize appropriate design validation and analysis tools as required.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, sales engineers, fabrication, assembly, automation, and installation managers on project-related matters.

  • Evaluate and validate new design processes and tools in collaboration with Product Teams; document new processes and procedures as applicable.

  • Communicate project decisions and deliverables with Project Engineers, Technical Sales Engineers, and Project Managers.

  • Present and promote financial benefits of engineered solutions to customers, including return-on-investment (ROI) justification.

  • Train and mentor junior engineering staff.

  • Plan and secure additional work authorizations for scope changes as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in a related engineering or design role.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with plant design, material handling conveyors, and handling equipment

  • 2–3 years of experience using 2D and 3D design software.

  • Design and basic analysis experience with optical sorting, traceability, food safety, automation, and mechanical systems in the agricultural industry preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Eligible to obtain a valid passport.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet corporate motor vehicle policy requirements.

  • Working knowledge of project management principles, including cost, schedule, and quality control.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven team player with a positive attitude.

  • Self-motivated, innovative, and willing to learn new processes and applications.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.

  • Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
