Mechanical Engineer
 
Kelly SETT, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for one of our Global Clients located in Lake Zurich, IL

Our client is in the consumer products industry. Their R&D team is developing a new product for commercial applications. They are searching for an Engineer with strengths in Machine Design to support this project.

Pay: $85,000-100,000

In this role, you will work on-site as part of a small new product development team that's part of a larger engineering department with 22 other engineers, a test lab technician, and an engineering manager. As an individual contributor, you'll be involved in design through prototyping of high-speed cutting and binding equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design of subsystems & modules for automated equipment using Solidworks.
  • Design of sheet metal, bearings, shafts, mechanisms, etc.
  • 3D print prototype parts and mechanical assembly of prototypes.
  • Design validation and verification testing of prototypes
  • Collaborate mostly within the team.
  • Evaluate mechanical designs for potential flaws and implement modifications to eliminate them

Qualifications:
  • BS in mechanical engineering & 3-5 years mechanical design experience or 10+ years machine design experience in lieu of degree.
  • Design competency with most of the following: Sheet metal, bearings, cams, cams shafts, solenoids
  • Understanding/working knowledge of basic machinery electrical such as DC electronics or optical sensors a plus.
  • Prototyping skills such as mechanical assembly & 3D printing
  • Proficient with Solidworks is a hard requirement.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members.
  • Knowledge of stage gate product development process a plus
