Job Description: Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for executing capital projects and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a robust understanding of engineering principles, project management, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive efficiency, safety, and quality improvements within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Execute Capital Projects:
- Generate project ideas based on business needs and opportunities
- Estimate project costs and justify by demonstrating benefits to secure funding approval
- Complete engineering designs and planning
- Specify, purchase, and design/build specialized equipment as needed
- Manage resources to ensure successful project installation and startup
- Provide training to maintenance operations as required

Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP):
- Identify and lead CIP to improve safety, reduce costs, enhance productivity, and diminish waste
- Improve product quality and resolve recurring quality complaints
- Enhance equipment reliability

Leadership and Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical expertise and assume leadership in tackling the most challenging problems
- Assist production and maintenance teams in resolving complex technical issues

Support Quality and Manufacturing:
- Support Quality department in root cause analysis of complaints
- Support manufacturing improvements through project management and engineering expertise

Innovation and Improvement:
- Generate ideas and solutions for specific issues and plant improvement opportunities
- Investigate new processes, equipment, and methods to gain competitive advantages
- Continuously develop and improve process knowledge and continuous improvement skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of engineering experience with significant project engineering experience
- Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills
- Exceptional technical problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience and understanding of process systems, metrics, Continuous Improvement Projects, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Six Sigma training preferred
