Mechanical Engineer
Kelly SETT, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is hiring a Mechanical Engineer with our client, a rapidly expanding chemical processor located in Ridgeville.
Overview
Our client is a chemical and metal processor. They're currently adding production capacity and are looking for engineers to support this growth.
As a mechanical engineer you'll work as an individual contributor on the team the develops CAPEX projects. Initially, you'll work on equipment and process validation as part of commissioning activities. You'll design necessary tooling, machine guards, or necessary components of the production line. As you become more familiar with their production process, you'll have the opportunity to work on more complex aspects of this project as well as contribute or lead other planned projects.
Responsibilities:
- Review the manufacturing process and conceptualize & design tools, or improvements related to the production lines.
- Design or specify equipment, tooling, fixtures, equipment vendors, project timelines
- Execute mechanical FEA simulations to support design decisions
- Produce Solidworks models, engineering drawings, and BOMs to support the design process
- Test, validate, lead installation, work with equipment vendors on commissioning and hand off to manufacturing.
- Drive new prototyping and build activities, supported by other engineers and technicians, to demonstrate design improvements and incorporate design-for-assembly feedback
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams including NPD, production, facilities, purchasing, etc.
- Own relationships with component vendors and manufacturers to ensure receipt of quality components that meet the needs of our commercial systems
- Analyze process data & metrics to drive improvements on safety, quality, and cost.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering is required
- Prior experience with medium-sized plant projects such as equipment replacement or contributing to large multimillion dollar CAPEX projects in any of the following areas:
- Process system design that includes equipment & automation, design of tooling/fixtures
- Hands-on experience with equipment commissioning or validation.
- Ability or record of managing own projects within budget/timeline.
- Ability to execute engineering portions of the projects including design, selecting vendors, equipment testing & validation, writing SOPs/work processes, commissioning, training.
- Proficient with SolidWorks, highly preferred
- Detailed oriented with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
- Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with a structured capital process, including process/equipment validation a plus.
