Description

Utility Mold Operator
Hours: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay Range: $17.00–$20.00 per hour
Location: East Syracuse Summary / Objective
The Utility Operator performs a variety of production and finishing tasks, including grit blasting plastic molded parts, performing molding operations, completing secondary machining and finishing processes, and ensuring all products meet customer specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to perform multiple functions within the plastics and finishing departments. Key Responsibilities:
Production & Finishing Operations

  • Grit blast plastic molded parts using the grit blasting machine according to specifications.
  • Perform plastics molding operations and other plastics department tasks as trained and required.
  • Conduct secondary operations such as drilling, tapping, sanding, and machining using fixtures, flex-arm taps, cordless drills, air drills, and the Anilam machine.
  • Mix filler and hardener according to instructions and use the mixture to fill voids and prepare surfaces.
  • Finish parts to specification using sandpaper, straight drills, sanders, and other finishing tools.
Quality & Inspection
  • Inspect molded and finished parts for defects, voids, and conformity to customer requirements.
  • Verify part counts, read job travelers, and route parts to the correct next operation.
  • Meet all quality and productivity standards for the position.
  • Support ISO quality management processes and follow Syteline MIS system workflows.
Documentation & Communication
  • Accurately follow job travelers and work instructions.
  • Communicate issues, irregularities, or improvement opportunities to supervisors as needed.
  • Maintain proper documentation and complete tasks in accordance with company quality and production guidelines.
Safety, Housekeeping & Team Support
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Apply all training and skills consistently in daily work to ensure quality-focused outcomes.
  • Support team goals by assisting with additional tasks or special projects as directed.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a surface finishing or related production function preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong manual dexterity and ability to use various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow job travelers, instructions, and specifications.
  • High attention to detail and quality.
  • Reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn multiple job functions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods when required.
  • Ability to reach, grasp parts and tools, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
