Packaging Specialist (Production Line)

Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay Rate: $23/hour

Job Summary

The Packaging Specialist supports production operations by performing multiple roles along the packaging line, including Slide Operator, Pouch Placer, Boxer, Bread Layer, and Bulk Packer. This role ensures product quality, food safety compliance, and efficient workflow from freezer discharge through final palletization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rotate and perform all positions within the Packaging Specialist function as assigned.

  • Monitor product flow from freezer through slide and conveyor system.

  • Conduct visual quality checks to ensure the product meets company standards.

  • Accurately count and stack products into boxes according to specifications.

  • Remove products from the conveyor and place them into assembled boxes.

  • Push loaded boxes through the taping machine and verify proper sealing.

  • Operate cartoner equipment and stack completed boxes for shipment.

  • Load finished boxes onto incline conveyor and palletize for transport.

  • Monitor and document Metal Detector Critical Control Point (CCP) in compliance with food safety requirements.

  • Change and verify production codes on taper, hand stamp, and cartoner.

  • Report food safety or quality concerns to authorized personnel immediately.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Perform additional production-related duties as assigned.

Food Safety & Compliance Requirements
  • Must comply with all Safety, Food Safety (SQF), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards at all times.

  • Must be free of communicable illnesses that could compromise food safety (e.g., Hepatitis A, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus).

  • Responsible for identifying and reporting food safety issues in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to rotate across multiple production positions and lines.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operating packaging equipment.

  • Effective verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

  • Demonstrated accountability and reliability.

  • Strong teamwork skills with a respectful and professional attitude.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime as required.

  • Consistent attendance in accordance with company policy.

Work Environment
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Exposure to cold conditions (freezer-to-line operations).

  • Requires standing for extended periods and repetitive motions.

  • Ability to lift, push, and move product as required.
