Pay Rate:         $24 per hour

Why you should apply to be a part-time bookkeeper:

  • Potential for a salary increase – up to a $5 per hour salary increase once hired, and after the 90-day probationary period is successfully completed
  • There will be the opportunity to choose a 4-day/week for 5 hours/day (M-Th) or a 5-day/week for 4 hours/day (M-F)
What's a typical day as a part-time bookkeeper? You'll be:

Church-specific tasks first:
  • Counting and depositing weekly offerings
  • Miscellaneous contributors personal ACH reporting
  • Recording online giving
  • Member contributions: recording, reports, statements
  • Donation/correspondence letters
  • Maintain and balance weekly payments for Wednesday night dinner at church
General:
  • Weekly check requests (validity, approvals, and processing in the system)
  • Weekly/monthly journal entries
  • Maintain credit card usage and access
  • Monitor bank accounts/balancing
  • Monthly/Quarterly and Year-End reporting
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end reporting for church-wide business meetings
  • Assist with annual budget planning and reporting
  • Worker's Comp annual audit
  • Payroll processing (for 9 employees) until this function is outsourced
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have church bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Have fund accounting experience
  • Have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
  • System in place - Shelby Church Management Software - Familiarity with databases and management software of any kind is a must.
