Payroll Analyst 

Pay rate: $30/HR
M-F 40 hours per week.



Top Required Skillsets/Experience:

  • Accounting Platforms: Experience with Escape, Aries, and Frontline.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills and patience.
  • Willingness to Learn.
  • Bilingual: Spanish language proficiency.
  • Ideal candidates are familiar with school district payroll practices. ESCAPE is the primary computer application used.
  • Requirement: Tuberculosis Test dated within the last 60 days. Fingerprint background checks are available in-office.
Work Environment:
  • Works with 500 employees, alphabetically split, supported by three others in the office.
  • Current employees commute from Salinas and Paso Robles.
Primary Function: Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Business Official or designee, the Payroll Analyst maintains accurate records for all district payrolls and employee attendance.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare all district payrolls and records.
  • Verify and distribute pay warrants promptly.
  • Administer contract provisions related to pay, benefits, and leave.
  • Collect and record time sheets and absence forms.
  • Maintain records for sick leave, compensatory time, and vacation.
  • Process forms for vacation, personal necessity, and compensatory time off.
  • Resolve issues with leave requests.
  • Assist in EDD benefit audits and process EDD Claim Forms.
  • Handle Tax Sheltered Annuity amendments and voluntary deductions.
  • Calculate income step increases for budgeting and payment purposes.
  • Interface with the Director of Finance regarding budget codes.
  • Attend meetings and training.
  • Perform other job-related tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years of recent experience in financial/statistical recordkeeping.
  • Proficient with computer systems and finance software.
  • Accurate and efficient under pressure.
  • Discreet and confidential handling of information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with modern office procedures, report writing, and proper English usage.
  • Knowledge of local, county, and state accounting and reporting regulations.
  • College courses in accounting or business preferred.
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish is preferred.
