Job Summary
The Planner/Buyer is responsible for planning, purchasing, and managing materials, products, and services to support production schedules and customer demand. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, timely supplier deliveries, cost efficiency, and compliance with company policies and quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels to determine purchasing requirements.
  • Plan and execute material replenishment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Create, review, and manage purchase orders in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and service objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and quality compliance.
  • Resolve supply shortages, delays, and discrepancies proactively.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support cycle counts and audits.
  • Collaborate with production, logistics, sales, and finance teams to align supply plans.
  • Identify opportunities for inventory optimization and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports related to inventory turns, spend analysis, and supplier performance.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in planning, buying, procurement, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards).
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or retail environments preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and demand planning.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
