Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Salary: 120k-140k plus bonus

Job Summary:
A leading manufacturer of heavy equipment is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and optimize the procurement function at our Chattanooga, TN facility. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing and purchasing of materials, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely deliveries, and leading a team of Buyers to support production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day procurement operations for all direct and indirect materials

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with production goals

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate closely with inventory control teams

  • Maintain vendor performance standards for quality, cost, and delivery

  • Supervise a team of up to 9 purchasing staff, including hiring, training, and performance management

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, sales, engineering, and parts departments

  • Ensure ERP accuracy and utilize systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX) to track orders, deliveries, and costs

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and lead continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable laws

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a heavy manufacturing environment

  • Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical product and commodity procurement

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle a plus), Microsoft Office Suite, and inventory systems

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and bills of materials (BOMs)

  • Proven leadership and team management skills

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field preferred

  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPM, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus

Work Environment & Expectations:

  • Onsite, full-time role in a fast-paced manufacturing setting

  • Must be able to wear PPE and follow all safety protocols

  • Daily collaboration with production and operations teams

  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines and KPIs
