Job Title: Quality Control Technician  (Chemistry / HPLC Focus)
Location: Charlotte NC
Schedule: 4 ten hour shifts, 8pm-6am (must be willing to work this shift)
Hourly Pay Rate: $25-$30/hour depending on experience

Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician I is responsible for performing routine testing of production batches and incoming raw materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications. This role involves analyzing test results to ensure compliance with product quality standards and assisting in the upkeep of laboratory operations to maintain safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The technician works under moderate supervision and is expected to execute tasks independently as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing & Documentation: Perform and accurately document testing on raw materials and finished goods according to defined protocols and timelines. Analyze results and identify out-of-spec conditions, reporting findings to appropriate personnel.

  • Method Execution: Apply test methods with precision and consistency, ensuring reliability and repeatability in all testing activities.

  • Raw Material Evaluation: Conduct assessments of incoming materials, flag non-conforming items, and communicate findings to the appropriate departments for resolution.

  • Sample Retain Management: Maintain a well-organized retain sample inventory, ensuring samples are properly labeled, stored, and accessible.

  • Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Monitor equipment functionality and calibration status. Report malfunctions or deviations promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Support and follow ISO standards, lab safety protocols, and quality management systems. Help maintain a clean, safe, and compliant lab environment.

  • Inventory Oversight: Track and replenish laboratory supplies as needed to avoid interruptions in testing operations.

  • Flexibility & Coverage: Be available to work varying shifts, including overtime or covering for team absences as needed.

  • Lab Organization: Ensure lab cleanliness and proper storage of testing equipment and materials after use.

  • Additional Duties: Assist with other laboratory-related assignments and contribute to ongoing process improvements as directed by the Quality Laboratory Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Education:  A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related science 

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a laboratory setting, ideally in quality control or production testing.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with analytical techniques such as pH measurement, viscosity, and titration.

  • Working knowledge of lab instrumentation and methods aligned with ISO and safety standards.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

  • Effective written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency with lab software systems, including LIMS.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically active tasks such as bending and lifting up to 30 lbs.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, lab coats, and safety goggles.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and focus.
