The basic function of the QA Manager is to provide leadership and ensure customer, company, and regulatory requirements are met in all aspects of QA operations. The position is responsible for leading QA functions with minimal to no supervision, including planning, direction, organization, and control to meet company goals. The role requires an understanding of Quality Management Systems, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP, to ensure the safety and quality of employees and products.
Job Duties:
- Develop quality assurance policies for facility-wide quality management programs and standardization projects.
- Provide leadership to ensure customer, company, and regulatory requirements are met across QA operations.
- Manage QA compliance staff activities, schedules, and performance, including coordination of Environmental Programs.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of SOPs, document control, process control, QMS, and training systems.
- Lead and participate in QA reviews, management, and product development processes.
- Provide technical support for new product development to ensure optimal quality and shelf life.
- Support QA procedures and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
- Coach, train, mentor, and support QA team members.
- Investigate and follow up on consumer and customer complaints.
- Provide technical support for vendor compliance, sanitation, and operational issues.
- Ensure all products meet testing and manufacturing specifications, and are accurately labeled, identified, and counted.
- Manage traceability and recall functions.
- Propose preventive measures and promote improvements to the Quality Management System to the executive committee.
- Plan and verify audit execution, analyze results, and address deficiencies.
- Provide SPC & data support as needed.
- Promote a food safety quality culture across teams.
- Support organizational standardization activities.
- Ensure facilities are maintained in compliance with food safety standards and GMPs.
- Manage Quality Systems, with familiarity in SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices to ensure workplace and product safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
- MS/BS degree in food science, microbiology, biochemistry, or chemical engineering (preferably post-graduate level in science or management) with 5+ years of QA strategy experience.
- Previous experience with benchmarking, integrating, and implementing best practices.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills for delegating tasks and reporting results to management.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to take initiative and manage tight deadlines.
- Experience with auditing, HACCP, GFSI, AIB, SPC, and other quality measurement programs.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, product formulation controls, and documentation.
- Positive work ethic and ability to influence group settings.
- Proficiency in various computer programs.
- Reliable transportation.
- PCQI Certification (must be successfully completed).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- 5+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Sense of urgency, attention to detail, multitasking skills.
- Experience in fast-paced and team environments.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- PCQI and SQF Practitioner (preferred).

Pay Range:
$100,000 - $120,000 per year
