Kelly Services in partnership with a global producer of packaging solutions, is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician. The Quality Assurance Technician will test and inspect products at various production stages, compile and evaluate statistical data, and ensure the quality and reliability of our products. This role supports customer quality requirements by monitoring production from start (lacquer coating) to finish (slitting) to successful conversion by the customer.
Details:
- 1st shift: 7am-7pm Sunday to Wednesday one week, Sunday to Tuesday the next.
- This is a rotating schedule for your selected shift - 4 days one week, 3 days the following week, and so on.
Responsibilities:
- Select and test products at specified stages in the production process to determine qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
- Conduct both destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to assess performance and lifespan.
- Oversee the Material Rejection Report (MRR) system to ensure proper procedures, manage out-of-specification material, and coordinate corrective actions with the operations team and customers.
- Maintain and calibrate all analytical devices, including lab equipment, plant balances, and offline instruments like gloss meters and resistivity gauges.
- Record and evaluate test data using statistical quality control procedures, generating reports to validate or indicate deviations from standards. Complete customer COA/COC and audit data/testing as required.
- Administer the Factory Calibration Program for all gauges.
- Manage the daily disposition of defective material in the label roll database following approved practices.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting and problem-solving for quality issues and recommend modifications to improve quality within equipment capabilities.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of environmental log data and collaborate with the Health and Safety Manager.
- Proven experience in quality inspection and assurance.
- Ability to conduct thorough quality audits and implement corrective actions.
- 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance & Quality Inspection in manufacturing preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Project management experience.
- High school diploma required; a 2-year technical degree in engineering technology or equivalent preferred.
