Quality Control Lab Technician (Food Industry)
 Clearwater, FL |  $23–$25/hour | First or Second Shift
Position Summary:
As a Quality Control Lab Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of food products through analytical testing, lab preparation, and process monitoring. You will perform laboratory analyses on finished goods, raw materials, and packaging while supporting production and quality teams to maintain a strong culture of food safety and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and test incoming raw materials, including flavors, bulk sugar, and packaging.
  • Perform analytical and organoleptic (taste, smell, and visual) evaluations of finished products.
  • Conduct start-up checks and monitor quality throughout production runs.
  • Test finished products and provide feedback to adjust batches as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and notify purchasing when supplies are required.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment daily.
  • Accurately record and document all test results and lab activities.
  • Perform microbiological testing on finished goods and raw materials.
  • Conduct ATP testing of environmental and food contact surfaces.
  • Follow all GMPs, GLPs, and SSOPs to ensure product safety and compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to support quality and food safety initiatives.
  • Identify and report any potential food safety risks to production and quality management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and support the company's mission and values.
Qualifications
  • Education: A.S. or B.S. in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Experience: 1+ year in a laboratory or food manufacturing quality environment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong math, reading comprehension, and computer proficiency (Excel, Word, databases).
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect variations in color, taste, and aroma.
    • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and stoop continuously during the shift.
  • Lift and carry up to 10 lbs frequently, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb and balance on ladders as needed.
  • Flexible to work overtime or alternate shifts when required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
